The goal is to give future Platform Managers increased knowledge and management skills in crisis management.

  • Platform Manager’s responsibilities and duties
  • Company expectations to the Platform Manager as crisis manager
  • Proactive crisis management
    – Company Emergency Management Plan
    – Alerting routines
    – Focus in the situation and use of focus points board
    – Conducting first meeting
    – Connection between focus points, actions, and situation plotting
    – Focus point board, build-up and utilisation
    – Use of PA-announcements
    – Purpose and use of situation plotting
  • Management pitfalls and how this may influence crisis management
  • Risk analysis, accept criteria, barriers and criteria
  • The team leader role
  • Characteristics with regards to crisis situations, stress reactions and
    miscellaneous conditions influencing us
  • Practical exercises in which the participants will act and
    perform their role as Platform Manager


  • Various scenarios, DSHA onboard offshore vessels/installations
  • Use of available resources onboard the installation
  • Organisation and communication in the emergency operations centre


  • How naturally occurring weather phenomena influence offshore installations
  • Utilisation of meteorological data
  • Passive and active safety systems
  • Tabletop exercises

50% of the course will be run as theoretical lectures (including group work, discussions) and 50% with exercises. A company representative will participate in parts of the programme.
